PETER GREENHILL, SHA — Heraldic Miniaturist

Peter was a founder of the Society of Heraldic Arts, and was made, in recognition of his work, Chairman of the Society, a post he held for four years. He was also a member of the Heraldry Society.

He was the author of Heraldic Miniature Knights, an introduction to basic heraldic terminology, its use in the medieval period, and its application to the art of the heraldic miniature knight. The book also provides a history of the model knight, from early toy beginnings to the work of present day exponents such as Richard Courtenay.

Peter continued the tradition of Richard Courtenay’s magnificent miniature knights with his own line of splendidly painted and animated pewter knights, his talented equal to that of his authorship.

Following up on the success of his earlier Heraldic Miniature Knights (the bible for collectors of Courtenay, Ping, Vertunni and figures by other distinguished makers of miniature knights), and Creating Miniature Knights, a how-to book on how he and co-author Mario Venturi go about producing their eye-dazzling figures, he wrote and illustrated Heraldic Sketchbook, an essential work for any serious miniature knight collector and heraldry enthusiast.
