† RICHARD MCNAMEE CROSSETT, SHA – Heraldic and Bookplate Artist
Richard was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and went on to major in Art at the University of Arkansas with postgraduate work at the Art Centre School in Los Angeles.
He worked for more than 50 years as a graphic designer in Salt Lake City, Utah and Louisville, Kentucky. He was honored for a number of his graphic designs, including his artwork that was selected by Churchill Downs for use as the Kentucky Derby logo in 1989. He was a US Army veteran who served proudly in Europe during World War II and during the Korean conflict.
He was made a Fellow of the American College of Heraldry in 1994 and ultimately served on its Advisory Board. He was the primary emblazoner of armorial bearings registered with that organization during the 1980s and 1990s.
From 1987 on he devoted a major portion of his time to heraldic art after earlier work as a studio artist and advertising agency Art Director.
