JAN JUNA, SHA – Painter and Expert on Military Historical Flags

Jan, originally from Olomouc, Czech Republic, was a member of the Ostrava Military History Club, and for many years wore the uniform of the Imperial and Royal Grenadiers of the Kaunitz Infantry Regiment No. 20 from the period of the Napoleonic Wars, and later also the Commander of the Imperial and Royal 27th Battalion of Field Hunters from 1866.

Above all, however, he was a leading expert on historical military battalions, specializing in the 18th and 19th centuries.

In the field of vexillology, Jan Juna was self-taught but endowed with incredible talent. This is confirmed by the fact that the replicas of the banners he created are among the most authentic that visitors can see during various battle reenactments or military-historical events, or were commissioned for exhibitions in foreign museums.

Juna shared and popularized the knowledge gained from his research through the website “Military Historical Battalions.”

Jan Juna was also able to put his enormous creative talent into the production of incredible cakes. The introductory motto of his former website presenting this other skill proclaimed: “Even to hell you go with a cake more happily.”
